Highlights Official Selections

This year we got a section with the highlights of several short films that we cannot screen them at their total lenght but we have made an edition to open the Festival with them.

These are the films:

Kaleidoskope by Telemach Wiesinger. A black and white non narrative motion picture with images of trips around the world. The music and the images are the main characters. There is no story but the evocative feelings of a lonely travel.

The Magic of Christmas by Antonio Bellido. This is a very catchy and funny song about the money and social justice. It will be integrated in the opening sequence with these films.

Last Time to Save Earth by Sean Chen got an animation opening explaining the presence of aliens in our world and how they change our perception of reality. That particular brilliant  opening will be projected in our festival.

Casa Ricci by Matthias Rippert is a film about a couple wich cannot find a true happiness at their relationship. The arrival of a third part, an eccentric woman makes sense to that couple.

Wake me Up by Reem Sameer Al-Bayyattell tells some of the inner feelings of a wife in Arabia.

Subliminal, Official Selection

Subliminal is a 3 minutes short film by Tristan Mcinstosh. It´s about the creative process of a tortured soul. The main role tries to write, but inside his soul there is suffering and a wish to be happy. But the creative process of living is hard...

This Official Selection will be screened in our Madrid section.

Pechorin, Official Selection

This russian feature film directed by Roman Khrushch is based on a book from the XIX century.
It´s made with few elements, few actors and few places of shooting.
But the inner strengh of the film consists in making a portrait about power,
not using politics but the problems of the human soul, a kind of russian Don Juan
who represents the nihilism of loving without loving. An inner charade and its consequences.

This film is going to screened in Madrid (Dr Steam cinema room)

All the Best, Official Selection

The first Official Selection from the Hell Chess Festival 2017 is the croatian feature movie called
All The Best directed by Snjezana Tribuson.

This film is a Christmas movie plenty of human moments. Different people from different countries and ways of living run into each other tied by good feelings and the Mozart´s music.
What we saw at this film was the fact of not being using violence or death to express emotions of high levels of intensity. Just simple people with hearts eager to be decent.

All the Best will be screened at  Eden Cinemas in St Julians, Malta.
There it will have several sessions to be watched by our jury and public in December.
All the best to All the Best.

Hell Chess Festival 2017

Now the call for entries is open to the Hell Chess Film Festival 2017.
It´s important in life the concept of "making something new".
The beautiful forms of art are mediums to convey new philosophies
to make the world a better place to live.
And of course this is our vision. Try something different. Do not worry
if you commit mistakes, take a risk to fly.
Look for perfection, but knowing this is impossible.
But believe in a cinema miracle to open our consciences and explain
why the world needs a change!

The Hell Chess Film festival is an event celebrated in Campo de Gibraltar, Spain.

Every year since 2013, we project our Hell Chess film and we play chess in a                                     chess tournament.
But this year the thing is going to be completed with your artistic works.

Hell Chess Awards

The event is over.

We enjoyed a sweet summer evening with the radical sight and sound vision of THE VIBRATIONS,
the eternal and beautiful end of THE LAST KING OF GRANADA, the critical CONTEXT of two friends who are not aware of their context, and the romantic black and white sound of FIRST PARADISE. But these are the winners:

Best Film: CARPE DIEM

This is a very elegant reflexion about loneliness.
We are especially touched by the opera scene with a beautiful mixture between classical and contemporary music. All is well done.

We don´t receive enough songs to give the Best Music Prize, so we have decided to award as
homage the spanish rock music band MOVIE PUSSIES at its 20th anniversary:

Both prizes are Sterling Silver pieces from the personal collection of Juan de la Encina.

And finally we are going to give an honorable mention:

Diploma to the BEST DIRECTOR: DAVID KING for the film EXIT.

This is a very special director who represents the best of the Hell Chess Spirit.
We enjoyed a killer edition and an innovative narrative way of telling stories.

.........

The Hell Chess Festival was completed with the premiere of the Film ¿NOTAS?
an anti-militarist film of Jorjesus that was made in 2006.

Thanks to everybody involved!
